BOTOX® and dermal fillers are both injectable treatments that are used to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles, but they achieve that result in different ways. BOTOX® is a neuromuscular agent, and it works by blocking the nerve signals between the brain and the facial muscles that contract during some facial expressions, like smiling and frowning. When muscles contract, they tug on the skin and cause lines to form. By blocking these signals, muscle contractions don't occur, so skin stays smooth. Dermal fillers are used on lines and wrinkles caused by the sun and environmental damage, age, and other factors. They work by injecting gel-like solutions into lines and creases to fill the depressed areas and smooth out skin. Fillers can also be used to provide fullness in the cheeks, lips, and other areas. BOTOX® and dermal fillers can both be used to help patients look and feel younger.
Plasma lift uses injections of PRP to promote natural healing responses that can help skin look and feel smoother and more youthful. PRP stands for platelet rich plasma. During treatment, a sample of blood is taken from the patient and processed to separate the platelets and concentrate them. This concentrated plasma is then re-injected into the treatment site to spur healing and regeneration of healthy skin tissue. Most treatments take an hour or less.
Microneedling is a novel technique for skin rejuvenation that uses extremely fine needles to create tiny wounds in the skin surface. These wounds stimulate the body's natural healing responses, ramping up production of collagen and elastin to form a skin that feels and looks smoother, firmer and more resilient. Microneedling with PRP uses platelet-rich plasma to supply growth factors that provide an additional boost to the natural healing response. Microneedling is used to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as some types of scars, including acne scars.
