Medical Microneedling, otherwise known as Collagen Induction Therapy, is a non-surgical skin rejuvenating procedure that dramatically improves acne scars, photo damage, stretch marks, uneven skin tone and aging skin. This revolutionary medical technique utilizes fine sterile needles to stimulate the skin’s natural healing response to injury in a controlled environment for optimal collagen remodeling. Microneedling is safe to use on all skin types and does not employ the use of chemicals or neurotoxins to achieve a luminous complexion.
How does it work?
Medical microneedling uses a mechanically motorized device to systematically “injure” the skin with miniscule needle punctures to the outermost layer of the skin. By controlling the depth and frequency of needling, the skin responds by organic methods of biostimulation to create new collagen and elastin fibers via the inflammatory response. Medical Microneedling has scientifically demonstrated the improvement of acne scars, fine lines, hyperpigmentation, large pores and stretch marks. It can also be used to correct and treat C-section scars by breaking down scar tissue and inducing the remodeling of natural collagen. Through revascularization, this type of biostimulation modality has also demonstrated the regrowth of hair, effectively treating alopecia or hair loss.
Aside from promoting organic collagen stimulation, microneedling simultaneously enhances the absorption of vital nutrients, allowing skin cells to perform optimally. Skin nutrients enter the skin via the micro-channels created by medical needling. Substances entering your cells are important, in that they either revitalize or damage cellular DNA. Proper post-care products will be vital to the recovery and healing of tissue after microneedling.
Hyaluronic Acid Microneedling, $375
Hyaluronic acid is a substance found naturally in the body to lubricate joints and other tissues, including skin. Since HA is something the body recognizes as non-foreign, it readily accepts it to be utilized as it would naturally be intended, thereby increasing cellular moisture content. Microneedling with HA increases collagen production by up to 200%.
Growth Factor Microneedling, $575
Growth factor formulas employ the use of living stem cells to increase collagen production by up to 400%. Healing time is minimized with growth factor because of the amount and variety of restorative proteins and platelets needed during proper wound healing. Tissue repair and regeneration of new skin is obtained due to the accelerated healing time with growth factor proteins.
Platelet-Rich Plasma Microneedling (Consult M.D. for pricing)
Platelet-Rich Plasma, or PRP, is as organic as you can get for collagen regeneration and proper wound healing. With PRP, patients can see up to 1000% increase in collagen production due to the autologous donation of growth factors and healing proteins being injected into the micro-channels of punctured skin. PRP stimulates keratinocyte and fibroblast production, promotes angiogenesis (growth of new blood vessels), and leaves skin with a tightened and glowing complexion.
What is PRP?
It is well known that there are components in the bloodstream that keep the body healthy. The induction of the inflammatory cascade (made by injury to the body) recruits a variety and abundance of cells made to protect you from infection. These cells play an integral role in the immune response by promoting cellular repair, warding off bacteria and/or healing wounds. Platelet-rich plasma is simply a highly concentrated supply of these healing proteins. When isolated and applied topically, the microneedle injects this self-donating healing serum into the micro-channels of the skin. The body, through self-recognition, accepts this serum readily and begins the healing process upon contact. As the skin heals properly, collagen regeneration occurs naturally and optimally. PRP is the most organic skin care product that cannot be found on any shelf. When it comes to healing the skin after injury, there is nothing as effective as PRP
How many treatments will I need?
Patients typically require 3-6 treatments spaced 1 month apart. If cells are prepped nutritionally and your lifestyle and diet promotes optimal cell function then results can last up to 2 years. Maintenance treatments can be performed as often as needed.
Is there downtime?
Erythema and swelling can be noted up to 72 hours post treatment, however the inflammatory response varies from person to person. No makeup should be applied within the first 24 hours and patients should avoid sun exposure up to 2 weeks after needling.
When will I notice a difference?
You may notice a difference in the texture of your skin right away but true collagen regeneration happens about 2 weeks after the treatment date. A series of treatments performed will result in an accumulated restorative, anti-aging effect. For acne scars, stretch marks or hair growth, a consultation with one of our physicians will guide you in the number of treatments needed to obtain desired results.
How can I prep my skin before a treatment?
Discontinue the use of prescription retinols, hydroquinone, or other harsh chemicals prescribed by your doctor. Also discontinue the use of immunomodulators, steroids, blood thinners or other immunesuppresant medications (please check with your physician before discontinuing any medication). Facial waxing appointments need to be made at least 1 week before having microneedling done. Facials and other peels can be done 1-2 weeks before microneedling. Keep your skin well hydrated before microneedling and increase your intake of vitamins and minerals from antioxidant rich fruits, vegetables or necessary supplements. Your immune response will function optimally with proper cellular nutrition.
What can I put on my skin after the treatment?
As a gift to you, we provide our clients with a sample of our oxygen-rich antioxidant serum that includes peptides, vitamin C, zinc, liquid oxygen, omegas, seaweed extracts and astaxanthin antioxidants. These ingredients have been shown to improve the quality of results from microneedling. You will be instructed on how often to use this product after your session. Do not use SPF on your skin for the first 24 hours, as chemical SPFs contain carcinogenic ingredients that will damage cellular DNA. Do not use AHAs, retinols, or preservative laden products for the first 72 hours. Use a gentle cleanser (no SLS or glycolic acid washes) for the first few days post treatment.
What other treatments can be combined with microneedling?
While we do not recommend needling with other spa treatments on the same day, we do encourage a light enzymatic or chemical peel two weeks post microneedling to gently sweep away dead skin (a byproduct of intense cellular turnover stimulated by microneedling).
