BOTOX® is a prescription medication that is injected into muscles and used to improve the look of moderate-to-severe frown lines in people 18 to 65 years of age for a short period of time (temporary). BOTOX® is administered by a healthcare professional as a simple, nonsurgical treatment commonly used to reduce wrinkles in the forehead, between the eyebrows (glabella region), and crow’s feet, or the outer side or eyes. BOTOX® works by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. This reduces muscle activity that causes moderate-to-severe wrinkles to form. There are various cosmetic applications, as well as medical, including the treatment of hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).
Dermal fillers, such as Restylane and Juvederm, are used to add volume to help reverse some of the signs of aging. They provide immediate results, as well as a more natural appearance. Dermal fillers may be used to enhance lips, replace soft tissue volume, soften facial creases, diminish wrinkles, and raise scar depressions. The changes are not permanent and must be repeated and maintained. They can be used with other skin rejuvenation treatments to maximize results.
